My Thoughts: In this unique children’s book, a thoughtful ant and timid mouse learn about mindfulness and their emotions as they embark on a journey of discovery together. As Odette, the ant, struggles with her level of stress, she goes on a journey of self-discovery to learns how to manage her emotions and find a way to return home with new tools to help her live a balanced, healthy lifestyle within the anthill. Cleverly paired with each letter of the alphabet, children explore various techniques — breathing, focusing, walking — as they experience a variety of emotions. Each spread includes a simple, colourful illustration that accompanies the text and a section detailing a specific exercise that children can try. Odette’s Alphabet combines an introduction to mindfulness and a range of simple techniques within an alphabet book — an original concept that packs a lot into few pages.

About the Author: Sandrine Marlier woke up one day in her New York apartment feeling out of sorts. She realized that no matter how many trips she would take around the world, thanks to her modeling career, only a journey within could bring her peace. Eventually, she trained with world-renowned meditation teacher davidji. That training inspired this book, as she found herself drawing an ant and a sound: A, the beginning of all beginnings. Sandrine is a mother, meditation teacher, transformational coach, and Reiki practitioner. She shares free meditations about healing and empowerment on Instagram (@sandrinemarlier).
