Title: The Museum of Lost Teeth | Author: Elyssa Friedland | Illustrator: Gladys Jose | Genre: Picture Book | Publisher: Abrams Books for Young Readers | Release Date: February 2023 | ISBN: 978-1419757051

Publisher’s Book Summary: Find out where the tooth fairy takes all those lost teeth in this laugh-out-loud new picture book, perfect for fans of School’s First Day of School.

Toothy lives in Liam’s mouth next to his best friend Fang. He’s a good tooth—sparkly and strong, and he loves doing the floss.

One day, Toothy notices that he is loose and panics! Where will he go after he leaves his comfy spot next to Fang? After a crunchy apple seals the deal, Toothy is tucked under Liam’s pillow. When the Tooth Fairy appears, she takes Toothy to the Museum of Lost Teeth. It’s a more incredible place than Toothy could have ever imagined. It’s filled with new friends and fun activities like Tooth or Dare! Toothy finds a new home on the Firsts Floor, where first baby teeth are proudly displayed.

In the tradition of School’s First Day of School, The Museum of Lost Teeth answers the question “Where do all the lost teeth go?” in this unexpected and hilarious picture book.

My Thoughts: In this fun take on lost teeth and tooth fairies, Toothy’s fears are put to rest as he learns where baby teeth go after the tooth fairy picks them up. Toothy is one of the best teeth in Liam’s mouth. But fears abound about a life away from Fang, Toothy’s best friend and neighbor, and Liam who has taken such good care of his baby teeth. But The Museum of Lost Teeth is full of fun and new friends where Toothy finds a happy new life!

With a wholly-unique premise and loads of lovely word play, children and adults will delight in this very funny story about where lost teeth go. In a relatable situation that every child and parent faces, The Museum of Lost Teeth tackles a tricky subject with empathy, humour and sensitivity. There are loads of fun puns and clever lines that parents will appreciate. Plus, children will delight in the clever, detailed illustrations that make reading the book so much fun. My favourite part might be the apology letters from tooth fairies with excuses about why they didn’t arrive on time, printed on the end pages. The Museum of Lost Teeth is treat from cover to cover!
