My Thoughts: As a huge fan of the lost art of letter writing, I was thrilled to read Pen Pal Gals: Friends Forever — a story about building a friendship from afar through letters.
When two young girls become fast friends at their favorite summer camp, they must figure out a way to stay in touch when their vacations come to an end. With sweet enthusiasm and a budding friendship, the girls create a bond through becoming pen pals and sharing their adventures and lives with each other until they can meet again.
The short, simple text interspersed with colourful illustrations is engaging for young readers moving on from picture books. It’s especially lovely to see the decorated writing pages at the end of the book and Pen Pal Gal stationery sets are available to create a darling gift pack for children.

I so want to read this book with my granddaughters. I can remember back when I used to go to summer camp and each year you meet new friends and then at the end of the session, you both have to wonder if you will ever see each other again. It definitely brings back bittersweet memories. And my granddaughters are just about to the age where they might start going to summer camp if this Covid ever gives up for real.
