My Thoughts: In the fourth instalment of the delightful Dragon series, a scrumptious cake takes centre stage and Dragon just can’t resist. Try as they might, the chefs can’t keep Dragon from taking a bite of the cake before it’s time. Can young readers help keep the cake safe until it’s time to celebrate?

With fun word play and a wonderful use of language, children and adults alike will smile through this enchanting book and an all too easy to relate to scenario. The text is cleverly interactive — asking kids to participate in cake making, search for a good hiding place and distract the dragon while hiding the cake. The colourful, emotive illustrations bring another lively layer to this wonderful story with loads of details to discover. No crumb is left unturned in the writing and even the dedication is charmingly tied to cake, yum! For aspiring bakers, little fibbers and anyone who loves frosting, Tell the Truth, Dragon! is a fun book to read together with a subtle, but important, message that even the youngest children will comprehend. A lovely book for gift giving…especially where cake is involved!
