My Thoughts: Oi is a little kitten who loves to explore. One day, after he loses his way, he finds himself in a new place with people he doesn’t know and a cat that never goes outside. Oi is lonely for the comforts of home, but as he gets used to his new surroundings, he realises that he must fend for himself. With courage and cunning, he traps a rat, just like his mum back home used to do, and teaches the indoor cat that there’s a wonderful world waiting just through the door. But Oi eventually decides that he wants to go home and cleverly finds a way to hitch a ride back to the village centre. In the vibrant setting of Kenya, this mischeivious kitten takes young readers on a tour of an African market, introducing us to the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of an intriguing place. As Oi wanders off on his own, against his mother’s wishes, he learns many lessons and often realises that mum’s advice was right. This is a fun adventure story for young cat lovers with colourful illustrations and a unique setting.

Lorna Likiza is a Kenyan writer, tutor of French, and Founder of the Heroe Book Fair. Oi Gets Lost is her first published book. She considers Literature as one of her passions and lives in Mombasa.
