My Thoughts: This thoughtful, rhyming picture book explores the mysteries of where mommy (a nurse) goes when she leaves for work and what she does when she’s away from home. With cute, colorful illustrations, children see just how a nurse cares for patients and helps them to feel better. It also does a great job of showing how important the job of a nurse is — something that will help children feel a bit more comfortable with going to the hospital or a doctor’s appointment. In addition, the book tackles the emotional moment — for both mommy and baby — when they have to part, reassuring children that a sweet reunion is not too far away. Nurse Mommy is a lovely book for any child of a nurse, a pediatric ward library and primary school libraries giving children a peek inside the adult world.
