It’s that time of year again when awesome children’s author Susanna Leonard Hill hosts a fun writing contest for Halloween. I found my entry from 2014 ~ An Alien Goes Trick-or-Treating ~ which just happens to star a friendly little alien named Allen. So, yeah, that character/story/book idea has been around for a very, very long time!
But I’m back with a new entry! Here are the rules: Write a 100-word Halloween story appropriate for children (under 12 years old) using the words tipetoe, goblin and chill. The story can be scary, funny or anything in between, poetry or prose, but it will only count for the contest if it includes those three words (or variations of those words) and is 100 words or less. Sounds easy, right? Ha!
Oh yes, there are some wonderful prizes up for grabs too. For details about the contest (and to enter, there’s still time!) visit: The 14th Annual Halloweensie Writing Contest!!!
Happy Halloween!
Witch One?

91 words (including tiptoe, goblin, and chill)
I’ll wear a silver tutu
And tiptoe down the streets.
As a dainty ballerina
I’m sure to get more treats.
Or I’ll dress up like a goblin
And scare them out of candy!
I’ll fill my boots with lots of loot
The space will come in handy.
I could just be a mummy
Wrapped up in strips of rags.
I’d be warm against the chill
As chocolates flood my bags.
I’m taking Halloween off!
For once I get to switch.
No one ever gives out sweets
To a real-life wicked witch!
